Who is Eligible for Pre-ETS?

The Pre-ETS program is designed to support transition-aged youth with disabilities. To qualify for these valuable services, a student must meet the following key criteria.

16 to 21

(or 22 if still enrolled in secondary education)

STATUS

Enrolled Student

(In secondary or post-secondary education)

DOCS

Has a Disability

(IEP, 504/IAP Plan, or medical documentation)

The Five Core Pre-ETS Services

Mandated by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the Pre-ETS program is built on five foundational pillars. These services work together to provide a comprehensive support system for students as they transition to employment and higher education.

Job Exploration Counseling

Guiding students to identify interests and explore viable career pathways.

Instruction in Self-Advocacy

Teaching students to understand their rights and request accommodations.

Workplace Readiness Training

Building essential soft skills, from time management to resume writing.

Counseling on Postsecondary Programs

Providing guidance on college applications, admissions, and training.

Work-Based Learning

Offering real-world experience through internships, job shadowing, and more.

The Student Journey: How It Works

The process for a student to access Pre-ETS services is a collaborative effort between the student's family, the school, LRS, and service providers like Excite All Stars. Here is a simplified look at the enrollment journey.

Work-Based Learning Experiences

Work-Based Learning Experiences (WBLE) are a cornerstone of Pre-ETS, providing invaluable hands-on opportunities in real-world settings. The program allows for a specific number of each type of activity per student to ensure a varied experience.
